Is Your Wi-Fi Network Properly Protected?
Cyber criminals can attack Wi-Fi networks by opening a portal through a server to access the network. If the portal lacks protective software, the hacker can access information about the company providing the connection, including customer personal data. Small and mid-size businesses are at a higher risk, as they typically lack the security resources to defend attacks.
How do you know your Wi-Fi network has been hacked? Some symptoms include:
• Frequent crashes
• Files unexpectedly appear or disappear
• Sudden, unexplained computer or network performance changes
At minimum, protect your Wi-Fi network by doing the following:
- Purchase a secure network with an encryption service
- Change your network password frequently
- Avoid completing sensitive transactions over unsecure networks
- Limit those who you share your network key with
