Driving on Business
Do you drive your own vehicle for business? Or do you allow your staff to do the banking or visit clients? If so, you must have business use on your motor insurance. A business has a duty of care and a civil responsibility to ensure the vehicle being used is fit for purpose. In the event of a serious accident, claimants may look to the employer in a claim. This is regardless of who actually owns the vehicle. 6 out of 10 people who took part in a survey by telematics provider Trimble said they were unaware they needed to insure their car for business travel if they use it for company business. This is a very worrying finding. Employers need to make sure an employees vehicle has a current MOT and the correct insurance. This should be logged for future refeence. Regular driving licence checks should also be carried out.
